deer tick

I love this music so much. Their live shows are wonderful and when I met the completely wasted, greasy little man with the voice a couple years ago, he was pretty darned wonderful too. Highly recommended.

Dream Over

Looking forward to visiting my favorite place in NYC at my favorite time this Friday night for Happy Hour. If I ever end up living here I'll want a membership...

Greenery

Walked by this neat little shop while exploring NYC today. I love terrariums! Succulents too!

God's Gifts NYC

I happened upon a rubber stamp shop called "God's Gifts" tonight and completely regret not buying a rubber stamp just for the novelty of it. Might have to venture back for a souvenir...

Railroad Revival

A friend of mine is currently on the Railroad Revival tour. Some folky-typed bands are actually touring the country on a train. So cool. Her photos are amazing. I wish I could go too.

Elsa, NYC

I went out on the town with a newly-single friend from FIT last night. We visited a lovely little bar called Elsa, which had interesting drinks with creative names like "Invitation to a Beheading" and "Death of a Ladies Man." I was thinking of home yesterday so I ordered a "Surfer Rosa." A glass of spicy yum, similar to a concentrated Bloody Mary, with a bottle of Pacifico to mix to taste. It was cool.

Michael Weems

On my last trip to Palm Springs I was sucked into a store/gallery by a window display which included gold rings like the one pictured here. The molten gold is so on-trend, yet these are also actual art pieces by Michael Weems. There are no mould seams here. Each item is unique. I had the pleasure of meeting the artist himself and he is overwhelmingly charming, real, and sweet. The man is busy, so the best way to see/purchase his work is to visit one of his locations in person. I look forward to the day I can decorate my home with the Michael Weems Pompeii collection.

Portfolio Progress

I'm in NYC for a month to interview for jobs! It's such a crazy different life here. I'm staying with a yoga instructor in Gramercy/Flatiron and the place is really nice, so I have that balance at least, while I adjust. Following a loss of Adobe programs, I am back on my portfolio kick!

Lot's more to do. The only way to not get nervous about interviews is to be overly prepared! I hope they recognize my skill and like my stuff.

Invisible Children

Do you know about Invisible Children? It's a charity that it worth your donation. If you stay in and watch a Netflix movie instead of going to the theater you can donate $10-20 without missing it. I sure hope someone would do it for me if I were one of these kids.

My friend, Tanya's, fundraiser page. You're a really good person if you ask for something like this for your birthday.:

These bracelets are a great conversation starter and/or gift:

The #1 best distraction I have found since dedicating my time to this portfolio. Try it. It's terribly awesome:

The start of something...
(I secretly love the ever-tedious job of drawing croquis in Illustrator. It takes me back to my undergrad years as a figure drawing art major!)
